OUR LETTER OF INTENT

How many of our "friends" on Facebook do we know irl? With how many of them have we had a real conversation? From those questions the "How I Met Gigi" project is born, allowing some other questions to arise.

Why do some people make a communicative project of life, a way of reading reality and modifying it in the eyes of others, out of their online presence? How does that happen? What would those people say if we asked them the meaning behind their posts? What would we discover if we were to sit and have a coffee with them? How would they react if we brought up a post from 2012 that contradicts everything they say now?

In what way does social media help and/or limit us in showing who we are?

Alice, aka Gigi, woke up one morning asking herself those questions, so she went to her friends, an awesome group of badass videomaker women, and asked them to help her make a series of interviews. In the series Gigi talks face to face with people that have attracted large followings on social media and seem focused on obtaining large amounts of likes and reactions.

Communication through Social Media, especially Facebook, is often one-sided. It is difficult to establish a conversation on pages and walls that allows both parties to engage meaningfully and really get to know the person they're talking to. Speech and confrontation are often sterile.

Gigi breaks down the walls created by a screens and social media returning to a more primitive meeting place: in front of a coffee.

It ain't true, Gigi only wants to know yo business.
